The Dutch Beer Institute offers grant of € 5,000 for young researchers

The Dutch Beer Institute offers a grant of € 5,000 for the study of responsible alcohol/beer consumption in a healthy lifestyle. The project should focus on biomedical, nutritional or (psycho-)social aspects of responsible alcohol consumption, specifically taking into account (non-alcoholic) beer. Xanthohumol from beer hops might protect your DNA – first human results

Cell and animal experiments show beer hops might have protective effects on the body. Xanthohumol is one of the components in beer hops that are believed to fight cell-damaging free radicals. Scientists from, amongst others, the Medical University of Vienna have now cautiously confirmed this for the first time in research with humans. Read more

Scientific consensus on moderate beer consumption and health

Low to moderate daily beer consumption  – one drink per day for women and two for men – can protect against cardiovascular disease.
